[Download] Amy Winehouse Hidden Treasures

Amy Winehouse was a great singer, way beyond our era, and even beyond her lifetime. In this posthumous album is a compilation from the producers Mark Romson, Salaam Remi and the family of Amy, to do this album, they had to listen hours and hours of Amy’s voice. Released in 2011, this album had to compete with The King of Limbs from Radiohead, 21 from Adele, El Camino from The Black Keys and even The Beach Boys with their Smile Sessions. Amy gives us in this album the best in RnB, Blues and Pop, this album will make you miss her because her voice and music style will never be be equaled. Back to Black and also special editions of previous songs.  This album reached the No. 1 in the UK albums charts on 2011. Our day will come, Between the Cheats and Will you still love me tomorrow? takes us back to the first album of Amy inspired by the music from the 50’s again. Pure touching R&B, soul and even jazz “Our day will come, and we’ll have everything”. Tears dry on Their Own(original version), the voice of Amy reflects perfectly the sadness in their soul and the band performs great following this. I have to say that this song moves me and make me sad. I like this ballad more than the version that was released in 2007 because transmits more feeling in it. Valerie (68 version), another classic song of Amy but this time with a faster tempo and with the guitar sound fresher making the song more danceable. The girl from Ipanema was another surprise for me in this album, Amy’s voice fuelled with softness to transmit the original feeling of the track is followed with a jazz band that changed the style from bossa to jazz. Half Time, a very touching song in chill out tempo, soft and sweet this song enters your mind and soul: “Halftime, time to think it through, consider the change, see it from a different view”. Wake up Alone (Original Recording), a smoother version, just a guitar, bass and just touches of drums, the voice of Amy could pierce your soul. At the end of the song the evidence of the passing life of Amy is revealed (for the album) because her voice is faded and disappears leaving the band playing solo. Body and Soul, this song begins with the original voice of Tony Bennett and then Amy, alternating in this way all the song. “Body and Soul” was recorded as a duet by Tony Bennett and Amy Winehouse on the 23rd of March 2011, it was the last recording from our friend Amy revealing their mature in her music and following the original style of the song, she was very nervous when she recorded this song given that Tony Bennett was a great leader for Amy. The album was a great finish for the career of Amy, specially with the Tony Bennett and Amy duet, she said one time: “Y’know what? Marvin Gaye‘s great, but Donny Hathaway, like, he couldn’t contain himself. He had something in him, y’know?”And i could say the same for Amy too. Rest in peace Lioness.

[Download] John Lennon, Imagine and one song for Paul McCartney [Spotify, Youtube Full Album]

Lennon, probably the best Beatle, is known by everyone around the world, as time passes, almost every generation have heard Imagine and Woman. I have listened his previous work: John Lennon/Plastic Ono Band and found it great, but Imagine is a work that will remain alive for their content, their lyrics and their relaxing style. When Lennon released Imagine, the competitors were Led Zeppelin with Led Zeppelin Album, The Who with Who’s Next, Marvin Gaye with What’s going on?, The Doors – L.A. Woman between others, amazing time for the music right?. The album starts with Imagine, recorded at his home studio, a sound that is simple, fresh and filled with great lyrics, plea for world peace, is a representative song of the Lennon state of mind at that time, and also his philosophy of life. Jealous Guy is a pure blues song from Lennon, the phrase “I didn’t mean to hurt i’m sorry that i made you cry, i did not want to hurt you, i’m just a jealous guy” reveals the amazing lyrics. It’s so Hard is a great great blues, i told you, listen it. Oh My Love has a great piano entrance that reveals the spirit in it, vocals that sound incredible joined to some soft guitar riffs courtesy of George Harrison, creating an aura of relax and love. How do you sleep? This song contains very great lyrics that goes to his former band friend Paul McCartney starting from So Sgt. Pepper took you by surprise, those freaks was right when they said you was dead, the only thing you done was yesterday” all these accompanied with a blues tone from the bass, guitar and even a string section that are great. In general, this album is more commercial oriented than the Plastic Ono Band from John Lennon, the songs here are more developed from the lyrical point of view. That is what make this album great!

[Download] Sly and the Family Stone – There’s a Riot Goin’ On, Greatest Hits [Playlist]

ImageThis Funk Band was one of the greatest bands of Funk in the history. This album is called There’s a Riot Goin’ On in response to Marvin Gaye‘s album What’s Goin’ on?. The year was 1971, out in the market were Led Zeppelin IV, Who’s Next, What’s goin’ on, Hunky Dory from David Bowie, L.A. Woman from The Doors and Imagine from John Lennon. There was a lot of competition for the family stone but besides that, the album reached the number 1 in the Billboard Soul Albums.

At that time, Sly and The Family were facing different kind of Troubles: missed deadlines for new music, relationship among the members were deteriorating and cocaine consumption. All this troubles combined led to the drummer Gregg Errico‘s to leave the band in the beginning of 1971. Besides that, Luv n Haight has the sixties’ soul sound in it! Just like a baby is a really sexy tune, groovy and with a lot of soul. Time presents a relaxed aura and can transport you into a mental travel to the sixties again, to a bar without lights, to a smooth place. Thank You for Talkin’ to Me Africa“, this song is recognized as one of the most influential funk song of all the time, it was the only track that the Family Stone and Sly recorded before their gap and their problems, and i can feel the difference in the bass here, because their original bassist was still in the band for this song. According to previous investigation: “The lyrics can be interpreted as a summation of both the career of Sly and the Family Stone to date, as well as a portrait of the era at the transition from the 1960s into the 1970s.  The song features co-lead vocals from Sly StoneRose StoneFreddie Stone, and Larry GrahamBassist Larry Graham, prominently uses the then-new technique of slap bass on this recording.”

«What’s certain is that Riot is unlike any of Sly & the Family Stone’s other albums, stripped of the effervescence that flowed through even such politically aware records as Stand! This is idealism soured, as hope is slowly replaced by cynicism, joy by skepticism, enthusiasm by weariness, sex by pornography, thrills by narcotics. Joy isn’t entirely gone – it creeps through the cracks every once and awhile and, more disturbing, Sly revels in his stoned decadence. What makes Riot so remarkable is that it’s hard not to get drawn in with him, as you’re seduced by the narcotic grooves, seductive vocals slurs, leering electric pianos, and crawling guitars. As the themes surface, it’s hard not to nod in agreement, but it’s a junkie nod, induced by the comforting coma of the music. And damn if this music isn’t funk at its deepest and most impenetrable – this is dense music, nearly impenetrable, but not from its deep grooves, but its utter weariness». [Download] One of the Best Soul Album in History: Marvin Gaye – Midnight Love [Best songs]

This was Marvin Gaye last album, just before he died killed by his own father. The album reached the number one on the list of albums of the year despite the troubles that Marvin was experiencing (a drug problem, debts, failure in his marriages and finally a lost of his equipment). The best song of all Marvin Gaye career is definitely Sexual Healing: I don’t know how to use the words to describe this song, pure soul, one of the best in the history of Soul Music, is very impressive the combination of instruments that creates an aura of sensuality with Gaye in the vocals with high notes that are hard to reach. This song reached the number-one on the Hot Black Singles Chart becoming the fastest-rising R&B single in five years! and even successfully crossed over to pop audiences and reaching to the number-three on the Billboard Hot 100. Later on, Billboard commented that among only two other singers – Aretha Franklin and Madonna – Gaye became the only male artist to place a song on every position of the Hot 100’s top ten listings. Eventually staying at number-one on the R&B chart for a total of ten consecutive weeks, the song would become the longest-running number-one single on that chart during the entire decade later selling over a million copies. Rockin’ After Midnight  is a song that inspired The Jackson 5, a perfect pure funk guitar in it with the highest notes from Gaye. Turn on Some Music, brilliant since the first minutes the voice of Marvin and a bass line that joined creates the perfect sexy and smooth aura. My love is Waiting,  another perfect soul track! This song is just breath taking, it was issued initially as a b-side to “Sexual Healing” in the UK but the song received a positive response from UK fans that it was also issued as a single eventually peaking at number-thirty-four.

This album is just amazing! despite of all the problems that Marvin was dealing, despite all the bad moments he give us this perfect album! almost all the tracks on it are great! full of Soul! I love this album! and the world too, because Midnight Love peaked at number-seven on the Billboard 200 and number-one on the Black Albums chart, this  becomes an eighth number-one album on that chart and his first number-one on that chart since 1977!. It eventually sold over three million US copies certifying the album as triple -platinum while selling a total of six million albums worldwide, it also became a worldwide hit peaking at number-four on the UK Albums chart. The album was ranked #37 on Rolling Stone‘s list of the 100 greatest albums of the 80’s. Marvin’s death was a big lost for the soul world. He made history with all his albums and closed a perfect career with a gold album like this.

Listen to the Best Soul Album in History: Marvin Gaye – What’s Going On (Special Edition) [Download]

American singer-songwriter and musician with a three-octave vocal range, born April 2, 1939 in Washington, D.C., USA, died April 1, 1984 in Los Angeles, California, USA when he was shot by his father Marvin Gay, Sr. Inducted into Rock And Roll Hall of Fame in 1987 [Performer]. Starting as a member of The Moonglows in the late fifties, he ventured into a solo career after the group disbanded in 1960 signing with the Tamla subsidiary of Motown Records.

Marvin Gaye’s What’s Going on album is considered the best soul album in history. Much has been said about What’s Going On’ political bent, and it’s true that the music was partially inspired by Marvin’s brother Frankie, who had come back from a three-year tour of Vietnam, along with troublingly violent episodes like the assassination of Martin Luther King Jr. and the Kent State shootings that saw four students killed by national guardsmen. Songs like peace-espousing title track and “What’s Happening Brother“, which finds Gaye expressing a war veteran’s helplessness upon returning home, show Marvin’s dismay toward his country and government. But this album isn’t just a protest time capsule, far from it, Gaye’s disappointment isn’t just societal, it’s personal as well. During this period, the singer had lost his duet partner and dear friend, Tammi Terrell, his marriage to Gordy’s sister Anna was violently breaking down, and he was being tailed by the IRS for unpaid back taxes. His resulting depression is evident throughout; What’s Going On isn’t a fiery album filled with timely sloganeering. Part of its long-lasting appeal involves an element of true-to-life resignation. “Who’s willing to try to save a world/ That’s destined to die,” he sings on “Save the Children”, pinpointing an American melancholia– a mix of world-saving power and funereal inevitability– that endures today.  Right On has an INCREDIBLE SOUND! I felt like if i were in “Ocean’s Eleven”. A delicious sound of flute in the background, a jazzy sound from the band and lyrics that protest about social class division, is one of the best songs in the album.  Inner City Blues (Make me wanna Holler), the bongo sounds are united with xilophone and saxophone creating an atmosphere of relax and poetry, very harmonic song. The lyrics talks about a life in a city where you can’t live well because you are fulled with obligations and taxes.

His marijuana-soaked delivery, along with the album’s mutating, percussion-fueled rhythms, majestic strings, and jazzy horns, give the affair levity. Perhaps this smooth front also has to do with the fact that Gaye was “hardly an activist in the traditional sense,” while his Vietnam-battered brother was an emotional catalyst, Gaye had neglected to send him one letter during his army stint. And though he was certainly aware of the Detroit race riot that left 43 people dead in 1967, he viewed the sad display on TV from his cushy home on the outskirts of town. Not to say Gaye didn’t wholeheartedly believe in the progressive observations found on What’s Going On, but his relative distance from his subjects allows him to fly over top of them, providing a healing pulse to the disarray below, creating an album as timeless as this one.
